Important Tips

•The local currency is the Ugandan Shilling (UGX). US Dollars are widely accepted for larger purchases, particularly in tourist areas, but ensure notes are printed after 2013 and in good condition.
•A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is an absolute requirement for entry. You may be denied boarding or entry without it.
•Uganda is known for its gorillas and chimpanzees. If you plan to trek, book permits well in advance as they sell out quickly.
•Dress in layers and wear sturdy shoes, especially if going on safari or trekking. Neutral colors are recommended.
•Public displays of affection are generally frowned upon, particularly outside of major tourist hubs.
